Definitely a hidden gem! Very good authentic mexican food and excellent customer service. We will back for sure :)
Great, authentic Mexican food. Criminally underrated. The handmade corn tortillas are so rich and flavorful. Best Mexican I’ve had in the 8 months I’ve lived here.
Love this local spot. Has delicious food at an excellent price. Portions are generous and you can tell by the customer base that this is the real deal.
I love this place!Don't let it's tiny size fool you. This family-run restaurant makes the best Mexican food. I especially like the green enchiladas :)
Great food. Very authentic and tasty. Small restaurant. Awesome Taco Tuesday. Most tacos were 1.65 ea. Great price for the size of the taco. Cold beers with great selection of Mexican beer.
The food is over price and the soft drinks are value equal of a regular meal.
I’m not sure how this place has received good reviews aside from their beans and rice. Being from San Diego, you would assume that Mexican food can’t change that much by less than 100 miles, and yet this place gave me a good surprise. Not only me, but my girlfriend and her mother whom are both from San Diego as well. The red sauce is nothing less than terrible, not authentic in the slightest and honestly barf worthy. The enchiladas are made from only white cheese (what kind of Mexican restaurant does that? 🤢🤮). Seriously, I would rather drive the hour back down to San Diego to have some actual Mexican food than eat here again. Disgusting.
Excellent food. Fair prices, I'd go again.
Great place
Unbeatable handmade corn tortillas. Gluten friendly. Stand out dishes and flavor.
This is a fantastic hidden gem in Laguna Hills, great food and the service is friendly. Chicken mole enchiladas, chilirelleno and chorizo egg were awesome!
Delicious food, extremely nice stuff, which gave advises how to eat certain foods, and helped with choosing.
BECAREFUL! Went in on Taco Tuesday like I normally do first off service was horrible as normal but I always let it slide and when the bill came out it was double than normal. Their excuses was that these tacos you got (4 different kinds) is not part of the Tuesday deal anymore. Just a bunch of BS in my opinion as since their business slowed they should instead think of ways to optimize customers experience not sabotage it. Over Priced mediocre food with horrible service, ill take my business elsewhere. (BTW have catered over $2k in the past from them as well) NEVER AGAIN!
Absolutely a hidden gem. The sauces here are fabulous! Reasonable and friendly service very willing to explain the many special offerings. Quantity and quality of the food is way beyond the price points. Don't miss out if you're in the area.
Hella tasty food, little pricey but it is more Yucatecan, and less Tex Mex.
Great food and very friendly staff. Thanks!
No salsa choices to compliment the food. They do have complementary chips and salsa which taste great. Main course was mediocre (California burrito).
Unique dishes, great service
Way better than Taco Bell
delicious especially after a long weekend !! will be back
Love love love the pozole here, they have it everyday.
🤤🤤🤤🤤 that's all I gotta say! But I'll add that it is the most authentic tasting food:) Siendo Mexicano:)
Great food, very crunchy Chips and Beans appetizer
I love restaurante Thank you so much to Ernesto en Verónica
Very friendly staff. Food is authentic regional Mexican (Mexico City area) and very good. Prices are low considering the quality of the food. We are pleased to find this gem and will be returning.
Average spot for quick food, better options in the area
Foos is good but service/priority for those who order take out is less than the customers who are dining in the restaurant.
food is good, fair prices small place
giving this restaurant two stars because the ice tea was great the chips and salsa was really good however my carne asada burrito meat was so over cooked it was like eating rubber and it had big chunks of gristle and fat in it which I hate in a carne asada burrito my wife ordered the shredded beef tostada she liked it however in between the two tomato slices they put raw onion and she ordered no onion no pico de gallo I personally would never go back
My girlfriend and I were looking for a good Mexican restaurant to enjoy breakfast at. We found this gem La Rana’s! The food came out hot and quick and was very delicious and very filling. I will come back over and over as long as the food is always this yummy!Funny side story is a co worker told us of a place that his dad ate at all the time. I texted him about it earlier in the week and he got back to us and said it was this place!
Great food and large portions at a descent price. My family loves this place!
Excellent little Mexican restaurant with traditional Mexican decor and a cozy family vibe. Try their breakfast burritos and all of the salsas they make, they're delicious. All of their burritos I've had are good and their chips and salsa are addicting. There are not many authentic Mexican food restaurants in Aliso Viejo and this one ticks all the boxes for me. I'll definitely be back!
Authentic Mexican food with a great price. The food is always fresh and made to order. Portions are large for the price.
Great food, great chef
La Rana is great authentic Mexican. We have been going there consistently for over 15 years since it is walking distance. The Carnitas are awesome. And Everything is very good, nice friendly service and good value.
Best pozole & micheladas in town. Awesome /friendly staff as well👍
Good Mexican Food. This place serve original dishes from Mexico! Is worth to try the food in this restaurant.
Fast and friendly service but the chorizo plate I ordered was lacking flavor.
Mmmm! Delicious food and great friendly service. I'll be back I enjoyed the freshness of the tortillas.
Best genuine Mexican food in the area.
Food was excellent. My kids are picky eaters and they always eat everything when we eat at la Rana. Today was no exception. Happy kids = happy mom!
Would not visit if it was not for a gift certificate. Small portions for the price. Entire place seemed as if it did not belong in the location. Uncomfortable seating because of small size. Decor was dated and cheap. Not the homestyle, momma and papa owned environment that was expected.
just amazing service, the food very very good, too
The wet burritos are great!Don't forget the dessert, Flan!
A Laguna Hills hidden gem! Authentic, Mexican food! When it comes to authentic, Mexican food,I tend to be very picky. It is very hard to find tasty, authentic Mexican flavors. At La Rana (which means “The Frog” by the way) you will find an extensive menu with wonderful choices. I ordered so many things: pambazos, consomé, quesadillas, tacos, and more! While staying at a nearby hotel, we ordered 3 times! I live 1.5 hrs away but, next time I’m in town, I’ll pay them a visit once more. ¡Gracias!
Great little place for authentic Mexican food. It ooks like a hole in the wall but if you know anything about Mexican food then you know that means it's good. Get it to go or eat it there if there is room.
Excellent Mexican Food
They serve big dishes and for reasonable pricing. helpful staff. Fantastic work.
Good Mexican Food. This place serve original dishes from Mexico! Is worth to try the food in this restaurant.
